  The President of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom, Mr Benjamin Kuti, aka Oluomo of Derby, has decided to step down from his role as the leader of the community. The social media group is made up of over 75,000 Nigerians, many of whom are in different parts of the UK and sometimes hold offline meetings and celebrations. Oluomo of Derby quit as the president of the community after a barrage of criticisms from members following the running of the group and handling of finances.Aside from Kuti, other group leaders also revealed their intentions to step down from their postOluomo of Derby, who founded the group, and other leaders wrote on Thursday about the decisions to tender their resignations via their respective X pages.  The Nigerian entertainment and academic communities are mourning the loss of veteran Nollywood actor and esteemed academic, Dr. Columbus Irosanga, who passed away on February 6, 2025. His death was announced by actress Hilda Dokubo on her Instagram page, where she expressed profound grief over his passing. Born and raised in Okrika, Rivers State, Dr. Irosanga was renowned for his compelling portrayals of native doctors in Nollywood films, most notably his iconic role as "Igbudu" in the 2001 classic, "Isakaba." His exceptional talent earned him several accolades, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) and Best Actor in a Drama at the City People Entertainment Awards.  Beyond his acting career, Dr. Irosanga was a senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt, where he mentored numerous aspiring actors and made significant contributions to the academic community.
